Q: When did you arrive in SL the first time and what brought you to Second Life?
A: Giulliana: What brought me to Second Life back then (2007) was the advertising that “you can build your world and be whatever you want in your Second Life!” And I wanted to be and build many things.
A: Fotis: I joined SL in 10/24/2013 as means to socialize and be creative.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about how you’ve spent your Second Life? Hobbies, interests.. things you’ve learned along the way ?
A: Giulliana: I’ve had many hobbies in Second Life: I created Meeros, Amaretto Horses, played Krafties, bought and sold gachas, but what I enjoy most nowadays is spend my time with my partner, building things in mesh and creating beautiful landscapes. And we really enjoy exploring all the open regions in Second Life; people are truly very creative and I always love to learn.
A: Fotis: My time in SL revolves around my partner, building, creating romantic atmosphere at our sim making sure that anyone who visits us will enjoy being comfortable and have a wonderful time, love to learn new things always.
Q: Tell us about your business. When was it founded? How many organizers/founders? How many SLers do you staff, etc?
A: Sweet Surrender was founded in November of 2024 and was created by the idea that love has to be expressed and felt, we wanted to create a sim full of loving places for couples to enjoy, we created a very romantic cuddle boat ride which takes about 15 minutes to complete and takes you through different scenes in a series of water caves, everything we build every corner has something for someone to enjoy, both of us are working non stop to come up with ideas to create a beautiful place. In the process of making our sim widely accessible we hired few live singers that we think match our atmosphere like Aleykat, Jeffah, Gaz, Lisa Brune, Vic, we are having bi-weekly shows and every Wednesday we have a dj session with Dj Adam Fischer, as far as our staff we have few good friends that help us along the way like Indi Fairey & Brent Clavenham.
Q: Was there a special reason you chose to sponsor the Avi Choice Awards?
A: We wanted to be part of something so special in SL and show our appreciation for all the things that happen behind the stage which not everyone knows, we know and appreciate the time and effort to do something special in SL.
Q: Do you have any specific charities you support in SL? If so, who and why?
A: Fotis: I had adopted a very special lady in SL as my daughter, her name was Helendar Bailey, she created an organization in Serbia for handicap people, unfortunately she left us 3 years ago, we made a memorial in her honour with a link for her organization, the name is Carpe Diem.
Q: Second Life is full of creative, talented, inspirational, kind and diverse people. Tell us about some of your biggest inspirations in SL? .. a memory or happening that stands out as inspirational, mind-blowing or heart-felt? Who has impressed you in your Second Life journey?
A: Giulliana: I’m a “veteran” in Second Life, but what has impressed me most so far is finding my partner, Fotis Dallas, and having so much in common. We like to create unique experiences in Second Life, not just for ourselves, but so that other people can enjoy them too. We love spreading love in everything we do together, and for me, that’s the most important thing in Second Life throughout my entire journey.
A: Fotis: Since my beginning journey of SL I was looking for the perfect partner which I found with my current partner Giulliana Palen, we do everything together and our brainwaves are so in-sync, I learn so many things from her since she has a lot more experience in SL about building/creating, so as a partner and special mentor yes she completes me.
Q: Anything else you’d like us to know about you, a special mentor, friends or your business?
A: We want to thank everyone in our Sweet Surrender community who truly brought us this far. Without them, none of this would be possible. We have the support of our friends and everyone who is directly or indirectly part of Sweet Surrender.
